The world’s first what3words beer made its debut this month. Inspired by what3words, San Diego-based brewery, Stone Brewing, named Stone after the 3m x 3m location where the unfiltered double IPA was produced in its new East Coast facility.

New England Style IPAs are in demand and Stone Brewing’s fans repeatedly asked for its take on the style — a request that the brewery met with curiosity. Rooted in West Coast style IPAs for decades, how would they do it?

Before long, the team at Stone Brewing turned their hands to delivering a new ale with an incredibly hoppy and aromatic flavour, nailing a one-of-a-kind creation, with a one-of-a-kind name.

“We’re early adopters and the first to use what3words to name a beer. In the not-so-distant future you’ll be able to use what3words to get beer delivered to you wherever you are, or to tell your self-driving car to take you to the beer ”, said Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Executive Chairman & co-founder, “In the meantime, we can relax and enjoy a Stone ///Fear.Movie.Lions Double IPA and dream about the world of the future”, he added.

The new IPA is currently exclusive to the East Coast, USA. Find out more here .
