Yext, the Answers Company, today announced that it has integrated what3words’ innovative addressing technology to improve the quality of location data on over 100 million location listings. With Yext, what3words addresses can now be delivered across the industry’s largest network of direct integration partners, which includes platforms like Google, Amazon Alexa, Facebook, and many others.

Yext makes it easy for brands of all sizes to maintain accurate and consistent location data on 200+ platforms, websites, and directories. However, reliable information that identifies exact locations, such as the correct entrance to an office space or headquarters, can be hard to find. Publishers typically don’t support a level of granularity that tells customers exactly where they need to go. In fact, close to 46 million people in the UK have an address that does not lead directly to the correct door. Imprecise addressing is costly to businesses, frustrating for customers and is hampering innovation.

what3words is revolutionising the way we communicate location. It has divided the globe into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, and given each square a unique combination of 3 random words: a what3words address. For example, ///bands.villa.swung identifies a 3 metre square on Primrose Hill with a panoramic view of London. Millions of what3words addresses are in use around the world, with thousands of businesses saving money, increasing efficiency and improving customer experiences.

Several leading brands have already added what3words data into the Yext platform and have started to sync precise, easy to use what3words addresses to websites, search engines, apps, and voice assistants.

“A traditional street address will not always direct you to a location’s front door, and business owners will often drop a map pin onto the center of a building’s physical footprint and call it a day,” said Fernando Ollveira, VP of Data and Product Partnerships at Yext . “With what3words, Yext customers can now tell users exactly where they need to go in the simplest way possible. This level of detail will help businesses dramatically improve navigational experiences and will differentiate brands in an increasingly digital landscape.”

Chris Sheldrick, Co-founder and CEO of what3words comments: “We’re proud to integrate with a platform that has been a pioneer in the local listings space for over a decade. With Yext, we can expand the reach of our transformative technology and deliver the benefits of precise address information to thousands of businesses worldwide.”
